Most of you must certainly have a GPRS-enabled phone and use the Mobile Web mostly known as the WAP. But have you ever wondered to what extent the WAP could be useful? Do we exploit it to the maximum level possible?
All those who know me (Hans, Anoop, Vek, etc), know that when it comes to computer, I am an IT-experimenter/Investigator so I just researched a lot about it and found various interesting points.
A collection of WAP links
This post will be our center to provide and gather a list of useful WAP links to exploit the mobile web to its maximum extent. So please do not hesitate to comment on problems with the links (They work on my Sony Erickson T230 but I cannot guarantee that the links will work with all phone models) and if you’ve got an interesting site that fits in here please submit it and I will include it in my list.
To start, just point your mobile phone to those links :
chat sites
- http://wap.tjat.com : A great site that allows connections to MSN Messenger and ICQ on your mobile phone! Simply connect, enter your details and chat!! What’s more, even if you are disconnected from the WAP, your friends will still see you as being online (until the servers timeout) and all their messages are saved until your next visit

Web surfing
- www.google.com/wml :Search the WAP freely and smoothly. Now,you can even call on Google’s Internet counterpart. This site can use a HTML-WML interpreter to let you search and access normal web pages too! Smells like revolution huh!
Email checking
- mywap.o2.uk :Wow, they offer to registered members a free POP3 email address and a personal WAP space with only 2-3 lines of ads(on pages,not in mails!). Personally I would recommend this site to all those interested in my Mobilemail hack,for O2 email has an access time of about 20 seconds compared to hotpop(1 min 20) and Yahoo(52 sec)
WAP goodies
- http://tagtag.com : WAP portal with tons of downloads(pics, java apps, etc…) and even an option to check a POP3 email address for those of you who do not have a Mobilemail Compliant phone.

You know I’ve just stumbled upon an intriguing thing while playing on Flickr : a WAP link that will bring you to the home of your photo storage on Flickr on that very mobile of yours
gotta check it out
