Why let ad services decide what they want to display? Display things you love to see and would like your visitors to buy and jump on! At the end of this article, the ad displayed won’t appear like ads but more like your currently playing list or currently eating or drinking list or why not : your currently clothes list : you decide, that’s what I”ll be talking about in here.
Things you can display:
You decide : your favourite clothes list, favourite music albums, favourite movies or anything that you can find on the vast repertoire of the Amazon’s list.
getting paid for your favs list
From your currently favs stuffs list, people will be able to see things you like and if they happen to want to try them too, they can purchase the items directly from your list. When they click on any item from your list, they will be directed to the appropriate page on Amazon where they can make the purchase and you cash the commission.
setting up your favs stuffs list
You’ll be needing a Wordpress powered blog since we’ll be using a Wordpress plugins that’s going to do all the processes : from allowing you to search through the Amazon’s repertoire for products you can display, displaying and updating the list as you find suited and finally linking the products to the appropriate purchase page.
First download the AMM plugins. Extract and upload the inside files to your plugins directory which is found at wp-content/plugins.
Next go to Amazon and create yourself an Amazon Associates account. You’ll then be offered an Amazon’s Associates ID. Your Amazon’s Associate ID will be used to help the AMM plugins link the purchase pages to your account so that you can cash a commission on any purchase made.
Activating and using the AMM plugins
After uploading the AMM plugins, login to your Wordpress account and go to the plugins section from your dashboard to activate the AMM plugins.
Then from your Admin’s section, go to Options > AMM. Configure the options according to your likings. The options are self-explanatory so I’m sure you won’t have any problem there. Now without leaving the AMM option’s page, we’ll put your Associates ID so that the plugins can link to your account on Amazon. Scroll down until you spot the Amazon Associates ID input box and paste the ID you’ve been given by Amazon after registering for an Amazon Associates account. There’s also the Amazon Developer ID which you shouldn’t touch, leave the default options there.
Displaying our favs stuffs list
You decide where you want your list to appear, in the sidebar, footer or header. Using an FTP program like FileZilla, browse to your theme’s folder. Open the corresponding php file, in my example, I want the list to display in the sidebar so I open the sidebar.php file using my FTP program. Then find the region where you want the list to display. Copy and paste the following code there:
<?php amm_getMedia('amm_default_output', 3, AMM_ALL);
Save the file.
displaying products on our favs list
Now that’s the fun part. After installing the plugins and choosing the region where we want the list to appear, all we have to do now is to select the products from Amazon that we want to get displayed.
From your Wordpress Admin section, go to Manage > select AMM. Launch a search using the input boxes for the products you want. For e.g if you want a particular movie, just search for its title. Results will be displayed, from which you can click the Select button for inclusion in your list.
After selecting the products to get displayed, get onto your blog where you’ll be seeing them displayed nicely in a fabulous list. Nothing more to entice your sweet visitors for a purchase. If you’ve got any questions, please use my comments form or contact me.

You can tweak you display settings to display items currently consumed based on category. See the plugin’s website for more options at http://www.sozu.co.uk/software/amm/getmedia_function.php
Else most bloggers would contend themselves with a currently reading and playlist list.
A note: Amazon item searches are case-insensitive but sometimes you will need to refine your input queries to obtain some rare items to display.
