Big Brother is watching over you!

August 13th, 2006 by Hans

Did you know that while searching for things, one can backtrack and get back to spot who you are using information that are made available while you search for something be it on Google, MSN, Yahoo or any search engine.

But this won’t make a big difference if they know who you are if you haven’t done or would do illegal things, but guys and everybody if for any reasons you would want some privacy, then Amit Agarwal posted a nice article laying down the things you can do to hide yourself from the Big Brothers of the web, try it if you want. There are some nice trick that might want a hop like the extension that allow you to customise your Google Search : get to taste it over @ How to Stop Google(’and many others if I can say so’) from recording your Search habits ?

Does privacy matters to you, if you aren’t a hacker by the way? Could those information the big sites record on us be harmful tomorrow to ourselves? How about sharing a bit of your privacy with a comment : take one and tell us ;-)

I suppose the very first thing to do if you want some privacy would be to discontinue using the personalised search service offered by Google (and the others?).

@ khalil & eddy: yeah that’s something that really track small private info using cookies and some other techniques as illustrated in the article by Amit.

But you know even the smallest search you do using Google gets your info down, that’s what should be peeped into if your wanna an up level privacy. You can’t say you wouldn’t do without searching the web for things.

In fact you know everything we use for working through this web gets some bits of info about us, I think its the hand we give back for the free services we enjoy like searching for things freely, etc……I don’t know exactly how info about us could well serve them or get to enrich them : if any of you know about this, could you tell me?? ;-)
