A free educational sharing tour

September 11th, 2006 by Hans

One day a teacher at DRC told us to define education. Our answers were around that same idea : learning things. Then his very answer that made us think because we were still trying to understand it. Education is sharing out knowledge to become someone better, if what you’ve learnt from education hasn’t made you someone better, another one or changed you, then you haven’t learnt anything. There hasn’t been education.

I still don’t understand that in its full. That man had to think for years to come to that conclusion. But the one thing I’m sure : education is sharing. So here I’m sharing stuffs that could help us in our education/at school/college/university. So for my buddies at college(revising hein?) and any visitor that might want to find resourceful things : take them below, the tour is only of free stuffs.

Cours de français

Don’t ask me why I don’t like that language : French. How would Molière write something while thinking if each time he had to bother about some accent aigu or some accent grave or some du instead of dû. How? But something that might help us : found on Nym’s blog. Simple and quick tricks to help us while we write in that French.

Plain English.com

Lots of free guides to help you get English down to simple, clear one : readily understood once read. How to do that on CV’s, letters, reports, etc? It’s all there.

MIT free classes

Massachusetts Institute of Technology is offering lots of free courses online. Check it out : no fees!

Liz’s blog

Writing techniques, tips and tricks, the way to good reading, developing ideas : it’s so much and it’s explained in such a simple, clear-cut fashion that you would feel sticking to English and write anything and everything.

Ask Dr. Math

Maths, talk about it there. Formulas, guides, tutorials to help you get those polygons right onto paper at the correct angle.

Drawspace

Drawing : it’s techniques that can be learnt online and at no cost.

CIE Syllabus

University of Cambridge, our examination body. The list of syllabuses available for download by subject. Choose your subject and choose the appropriate level.

LearnOutLoud.com

Download free audio and video lectures. Watch and listen while learning.

Wikipedia.org

Free and vast encyclopedia. Articles, pictures, audio for everything that might have something to know about.

Textbook Revolution

Online textbooks, that’s the place to get them free :!:

OpenCourseWare Finder

Free university courses and materials, online at the mercy of everyone.

Berkeley webcasts

University of California, Berkeley is offering free webcasts of several different courses.

Who said education is only obtained through textbooks, at colleges, universities. Can’t the web teach us, can’t it educate us?

the way to it

Know more free space to educate ourselves? How about getting to contribute you also? Wanna share your precious education through that comment box?

  • 15 Hans Sep 13, 2006 at 10:00 pm

    @ nym

I also thought that at first. I even thought of adapting it for things, you know how I like scrabbling words and inventing strange ones.

I think that one was already taken :(

It would have made something nice. I should still have found something to name it with that. Probably posts like the one about then :

blogopedia : educational free tour
