Typography, beautify your fontage

September 18th, 2006 by Hans

While getting some text down on a computer, you can choose various fonts. Different typography suiting the text for that occasion. Choosing the right one to make the text express by itself. Windows or mac comes with a directory of default ones. If you don’t like them or they are not enough to express your feelings through your text, then why not get some fonts at no cost.

Download and unpack them(the zipped font folder) to your fonts directory. For Windows XP, it’s in C:\WINDOWS\Fonts.

Dafont.com
The largest and best free font directory I’ve ever seen. You can choose that font and preview it with a piece of text. Suit you, if not choose another. Don’t forget to check out the best Top 100 ones, they really deserve a ride. I’ve even used some for my blog here. The site in available in both English and French.

TypeNow.net
Go tell me, what’s your favourite movie or series? Surely TypeNow.net might have its font on it.

SimpletheBest Free fonts
That tell you much, you’ve got lots of fonts there to choose among so many categories : wild, western, sans serif. Choose the one that suit you, they have the best of the largest font directory there.

Lucida Grande
Mac uses it as its default font. They’ve got their reason : it’s just one of the most aesthetic and sleek font I’ve seen. Just make you feel like you’re reading on a mac or better experience the mac if you want. Discovered via TechZOnline.net

Now go choose that font that expresses the feeling for your text. Take a comment and tell me your favourites ones. Let’s share the beauty behind those words through fonts ;)

Refreshing updates

I usually take fonts on Dafont.com, but there is too much choice!!! lol

It’s hard to choose only the best fonts that I really want to install…

    @ Princesse Nutella

Each time I get to Dafont, I’m onto the section Top 100 which gets updated with new rocking font. Yeah too great to make your own design with those fonts. What’s your favourite? I like the Elf one very much
