Famous blogging platform Wordpress has moved to a major release codename Ella, which is now version 2.1
Some interesting features are to be noted in that new version like the Autosave feature that saves your post as you’re writing/drafting them, a revamped login screen which has got more colours and less pain in the ass/eyes unlike the old one and lots more of nifty features. So go, rush :Download it here.
When upgrading, activate your plugins one by one and go check your blog to see if everything is working smoothly. Some plugins might have some issues with this new version. One of such is the famous Subscribe to comments plugins but thanks to Ben Gray of Openswitch.org who found a quick fix to that.
I also think that the More Smilies plugin is getting jerky with the 2.1. When I tried it, I’m sent into fullscreen of errors.
How about you, on your side? How’s the upgrade?
- Contact form for Wordpress 2.1
- Check out the best Wordpress 2.3 theme : WideJournal
- MyAvatars : gravatars for all!
- myJournal meets Sandbox providing you the best theme ever
- I’m staying with Wordpress 2.1.3, so should you!

okie, will try it this weekend
and on my sandbox first, try getting everything to work first.
I am not upgrading until I hear more good things from the community.
Your feedback just gave a -1 towards the upgrade decision
@ kyu
Are you still tweaking your theme?
@ Eddy
Yup, I think there are still many security issues and bug that need to be fixed. But I switched right now to know if primarily my theme would work with it. This would allow me to change things right from now if something wasn’t working.
The working on the database code and many further features surely make that version the fastest. Ajax, etc……..
