Choose your future career for your own sake

February 21st, 2007 by Hans

Like many out there, sooner or later we’ll(teenagers) kiss corporate life. But still we have lots of time to decide about our future career path and that said before choosing a study field for further studies. Down here, I shall discuss some aspects to consider in choosing the right future job for you.

where it starts

Everybody is born with an innate talent that somehow, someday he will discover in himself. Something down within him that he’ll enjoy doing. Day by day he’ll also want to improve to get better. Then it’s not just only getting better, it’s becoming the best. That’s when one knows he has a particular talent and would like to make a life out of it. That’s the start of a journey in quest for a job.

what it takes

Lots of determination and motivation. Being talented in something is knowing down within you that you’re good at it even if the rest of the world don’t share the same opinion. This is where someone needs to strive to show that he’s really good at that job and he’s a talented and skilled person. Sometimes there won’t be people to support you, better there would be those to discourage you but if you know for sure it’s your talent and your career field, it’s time for you to get smart.

time to get smart

Being smart is to know your field at your finger tips and for that it takes time and some of your mind and intelligence. Read and never stop learning anything in concern with your job/field. Pay attention to the minute details and that’s how someday you get to be a smart person who really knows what he’s speaking when it’s about his job.

where it leads

Everybody is a container of a dream, the pursuit of it leads to happiness. Many times it seems you work for nothing or probably for others but if it isn’t about your own happiness, then there is something wrong somewhere.

let life and happiness take the lead

In The Pursuit of Happiness, Will Smith plays the role of Christopher Gardner, a man who always believed his happiness lied in selling scanners. He thought it was his talent, his job for the rest of his life. He wanted to sell those scanners so badly that he bought a heck of a lot of them. He started with this job, he was smart and he wanted tremendously that this could lead him to happiness.

It didn’t. He was living on mere few dollars to survive, sometimes without having nowhere to live and he got his son to take care. His wife left him since she couldn’t believe that this would lead her somewhere. And he was leading a very miserable life but he wanted that happiness, he wanted to be happy. It’s this pursuit of happiness for himself and his son that drove him to take an internship with a stock brokerage company. The internship didn’t pay but he strived to get along.

He worked hard for it in the worst living conditions and in the end succeeded in getting enrolled. Now he’s running a multi-billion company.

That’s the true story of Christopher Gardner. So somehow if you’re sincere with yourself and sincere to be happy, even if you’re not in the right job field, life will take you to it.

for your own sake

It goes back to you, down within you, you should know why you’re doing or opting for a particular job. Is it for your parents, to accomplish someone else dream, for honour or for other people? It should be clear in your mind in why you’re choosing a particular career field. Start asking yourself whether it’s firstly for your own happiness. Because if somehow things go wrong, it would be that pursuit of happiness that will take you to the right path. So make sure you’re choosing your future job for your own sake.
