I usually sniff around e-bays looking for items that I can buy at an affordable price. Recently I came across a site, Fat Fingers that uses a new concept or “misconception” to help you save money on eBay.
Thousands of items on eBay are listed with descriptions containing spelling mistakes. These items often expire with no bids on them as no-one can find them. Type in a keyword below and click the Find button. Then click the link and uncover those hidden gems…

Check Out The Cheapest IPODs
I tried out the site with the word “IPOD“.
The engine returned me with a search result of 5813 items found on eBay for the following words(search results appear in a pop-up window, so make sure to Allow pop-ups from Fat Fingers.com within Mozilla Firefox):
ipof,ipos,ippd,ipid,opod,upod,apod,ipog,ipoj,ipob,ipoo,ippd,iiod,
ipodd,ipood,ippod,iipod,ipdo,iopd,piod,ipo,ipd,iod,pod

The Advanced search has some interesting features like:
- Include correct spelling
- Misspelled in description but not in title
- Just ‘Buy It Now’ auctions
- Just auctions that use PayPal
- Ignore listings containing words you have entered
You can do the search in the following languages too: English, Deutsch, Nederlands, Italiano, Français and on various sites of eBays. For bloggers who want to allow their visitors to have such features, just grab the respective search code from the Add this to your site section. That would be a great added feature to Auction Ads, wouldn’t it?
The site also has a widget which you can install(Download tab on the site): Internet Explorer Add-ons for Windows and Mozilla Firefox Search Add-ons (Windows, Mac OS X and Linux).

Also the site provides you with the possibility of reporting any problems you may encounter at the following mail add: feedback@FatFingers.com
But still there is one little problem. Can you tell me why the domain name of the site is Fat Fingers?

hmmmmm…. the guy who invented this has fat fingers
It’s named that because people with fat fingers notoriously make spelling errors. With oversized fingers you’re more likely to accidentally hit the key next to the one you meant to hit, or add an extra key, or just generally trip over your own fingers.
Ah…. Ok. Thnx for the explanation Turbofool. Still it seems like a great service for people with normal-sized fingers also!
That’s exactly the point, Yan. Those of us with normal-sized fingers get better deals thanks to the auctioneers with the fat ones.
Turbofool,
Absolutely love the “trip over your own fingers” comment.
That would cause some serious typo’s with fingers that length.Just picturing the image in my head now.
You can make money with mispellings AND items listed for too low a “Buy It Now” price. I just wrote an article on my first secret niche that I used to monitor every day for incorrect “buy it nows”. Check out my article as more secret niches will be revealed in the upcoming weeks.
Easy… If you have fat fingers, its hard to type well on a keyboard and you make mistakes. Therefore, when a person with fat fingers types words into the fields, they make mistakes. These mistakes are then found using fatfingers.com… all to obvious!
Wow that’s really insane how many miss spelt items it is possible to find with this thing, although I fear someone who can’t spell ipod could be an unreliable seller if you understand what I mean. What’s to stop them sending your item to the wrong address!?
