See my footer and you’ll know since when I’ve been blogging.
Hey I’m a fresh drop-in. How about you tell us your blogging age by putting this nice little php code in your footer/sidebar or any template page on your wordpress blog:
Blogging for <?
$days = round( (time() - strtotime('January 7th, 2006')) / 60 / 60 / 24 );
$years = floor($days/ 365);
$daysLeft = $days - ($years * 365);
print "$years years and $daysLeft days";
?>
Make sure to replace January 7th, 2006 with the date(in same format as above) you started blogging in the above code. Visitors can now know your blogging age. So how blogging old are you?
Update: Thanks to Avinash for the tip.
Thanks to Stéphane for correcting me again.
Check this out before going away:
One way to work while staying at home and earn decent money is by creating a site that offers some of the premier certification training. This can easily be accomplished through domain registration which will first have to be searched for on a search domains site, and finding a cheap hosting company. Using web design software the design template can be created in no time. One can offer microsoft training on the site. Courses like 70-291 can be offered. Other than that Comptia training can also be offered, tutorials for 220-601 are very famous.

okie
was thinking of asking you how ya did that
(or else try programming it meself,)
But thanks,
will search in me archive,
i know i have the date somewhere in my Hard disk*s dumping ground area
Thanks for that!
But your code has a bug:
$years = round($days/ 356);
should be:
$years = floor($days/ 356);
@ avinash yup thanks
Added it, it works!!

nice smileys
thanks! the prob is whether or not i include the time i have been blogging in live space as well…do you think i should?
Ooops! i just realise it’s for wordpress! solly!!!
@ kyu
yup I think you’re still a baby like me. Do you think at the age of 1 year and some days, kids start to talk?
@ Avinash
Thanks to you for pointing that to me and for reading my blog.
@ Yashvin
It’s the one I’ve made available for download called Cloudy. Nice you liked it.
@ waz
I don’t know whether Live space works on php but if it does, try it out. Since it’s just a bit of php code. And if that works, yup you should include a date or be cool with it : an approximate one that you can recall when you started blogging.
Yeah, there are 365/366 days in a year btw.
I have way too much time
1 ? "s " : " ";
echo "and $d day";
echo $d > 1 ? "s" : "";
?>

@ Stéphane
Thanks for the link and the correction.
Ah there’s so much mods and hacks for wordpress. Am using ExpressionEngine, I should write my own when i have time. Looks like a nice little mod.
So you’ve been blogging for over a year!
Hi Blogo, I know you offered to help me with my templates… I was wondering if that offer is still available. I’m going nuts trying to get the flickr photo on the sidebar… I managed to install the program, and mybloglog — in the sidebar menu… but nothing shows up.
@ James
yup and how about you? How blogging old are yoU?
@ CuriosityKiller
sure, I can be reached via mail on this address : blogosquare at gmail dot com
Just shoot me a mail and I would be happy to help.
Thanks for your visit on my blog. Hope to see you around more often.
I think i’ve been blogging for 3yrs now.
How blogging old are you?…
Tell your visitors your blogging age by putting a nice little code in your template. Great and cool tricks for bloggers….
Great tip. I’m at 4 years and 289 days, which is astonishing considering my ability to abandon projects.
@ dennis
wow
seems you’ve got lots of experience in the field man. wow 4 years! Hope to see you around more often. that would be too great
seems you’ve have seen major stuff growing in the blogosphere…..the development of blogger, etc,etc……haven’t you? how it feels?
Hans: I was a long-time (very long time) Movable Type guy, but just recently switched to Wordpress. The thing I really liked about the early days was the community that grew while things were developing. WP still seems to have that feeling.
BTW, got your comment on my site about VLC — it does play Real audio, but not video. Side-effect of Real keeping the codecs proprietary.
@ dennis
no worry. I’ll try something else then. Thanks for your comment and the visit.
[IMG img_9198_c.jpg] I do love my new lens! (Canon EF-S 60mm f2.8 *droools*) I found this earlier, Dont forget to delete the space between the first < and ? else it wont work. My blogging age is 6 years and 148 days, god I feel old! One day I'll do a post with screenshots of my first site! (which was a blog!).
6 years and 148 days!
Back in the day!
I was a blogging 12 year old!

@ Han
wow
that makes a lot……on what did you start on? I read your post there on your blog and hope really you could bring a photo of the old days
We’re feeling sorta established now… March 13th is our 3rd official blogiverssary. We were sorta blogging even before that point, but it was pretty crude stuff - no archiving, no post formatting, no date/time stamp, etc.

@ Rob O.
yeah it takes some time to really find the right niche for your blogging. I myself blogged aimlessly for several months to find what I liked. But once that figured, it also takes some time to put some order around.
thanks for your visit Rob. Hope you liked this little goody.
haha very nice! I’ve added it to mine.
Thanks Hans

@ Techz
you’re welcome Techz……. I’m glad you liked it
Very cool but it doesn’t handle plurals correctly. It says ‘1 years’ instead of ‘1 year’ little bug there, no biggy
@ Joe Anderson
yes….this is so as to display the plural form when the year exceeds the 1……if you want to remove it you can do so in this line of code :
print “$years years and $daysLeft days”;
just take the “s” from the years and this would be ok…you can then put it back later if you want when you’re older
thanks for your visit in here..hope to see you around more often
This went into my bookmarks. Nice hack, I wonder why no one came up with this earlier.
Another bug:
$years = round($days/ 356);
should read
$years = round($days/ 365);
(but as someone said, some years are 366 days long so there is still a small bug…)
@ Avinash:
Thanks for it…I did correct that
Stéphane pinged me about it
lol as for the 365/366, I suppose we’ll be all 1 day/some days younger lol. unless we do a condition things that will change it after 4 years
could that work?
@ Thilak
glad to know that you like it lol….
I’ve been blogging for 1 month ++
but on Blogger…
got anything I can use for Blogger?
@ Culture Shiok!:
more blogger goodies on your way in the near future buddy…keep in touch
