Some considering items of language

English language is well-known to be rich in idioms, expressions and slangs. Among these, I’ve recently found some interesting items for bloggers. First, the correct pronunciation of tech words followed with some rather insulting words you should know.

While reading on the web, we ought to pronounce tech jargons as they fit us. The popular image format, gif as ‘gift’ instead of the real pronunciation ‘jif’. To prevent such ambiguities and much controversy on the subject since many wouldn’t just accept the real pronounciation, How to Pronounce Various Tech words? is an interesting article dealing with the most famous tech words around together with their correct pronounciation. There is even an audio item with Linus Torvalds, himself, pronouncing Linux to convince those who would still persist in saying it wrong.

As for those regurlary involved in flame wars around the blogosphere, I’ve found some interesting concoctions for you to be used during battles. English is loaded with all kinds of mean words that one would really find it so difficult to decipher the meaning behind. That would leave your rivalry pondering a long time on what you said, perhaps he might even think you’re talking Latin to him. But Hircismus is indeed an English word meaning offensive armpit odor. LOL, that would really leave people out there stunned in the dark. All of this great hidden and offensive vocabulary is described in 10 Insulting Words You Should Know.

For all these reasons, the next time you’re online be it on IM or blogging, be wary. Take good care of writing things correctly, a ‘thing ‘ with a misplaced O instead of the I would give ‘thong’, which could drop you in an uneasy situation.
