Safari is out for Windows, go get it!

with 13 comments

Mac OSX’s famous browser, Safari is out for Windows XP and Vista. Go get your copy now.

As a Firefox supporter, I won’t tell you that Safari bests Firefox but it has got some key features that you could well relish or maybe find vital.

Key features

First you should note some key features of Safari so that you don’t get lost :

  1. No loading progress bar. To keep track of a site’s loading status, you would look at the progress bar but it turns out the Safari doesn’t come with one where you would think it would be : down at the status bar. Instead, Safari shows you the loading progress on the address bar itself.

  3. Resisable text area. If you like space, especially when you’re typing your words, you’ll also like Safari’s feature allowing you to enlarge/resize any text area, be it a comment’s form or your WordPress writing space. Just click, hold on the bars at the text area’s bottom right and resize to your liking.

  5. That’s it I think. I won’t bug you with something like a whole feature list. But if you want, you can read them all on the official Download’s page through the Safari Tour.

Why I like Safari?

It’s the first time I’m using Safari and personally I like it for some of those features :

  1. Metallic look. I really like that metal brush look Safari has got. Back then on Firefox, I would go get me the themes and add-ons to make Firefox ressemble Safari but now why bother and tire myself. I can browse through the real thing.
  2. Blue infocus effect. Whenever you click an input box ready to type your text, you would surely notice that blue ice focus effect surrounding the input box. Really superb and attractive to keep your attention.
  3. infocus features

  4. Light browser.I’m not saying that it got nothing as features but more that Safari strips down all the crap from your screen and let you breath your pages in delight. Extra big space. I love it.

What could you possibly use Safari for?

Safari is good but I won’t tell you to adopt it as your primary browser. You would want to use it to read large amount of text on website, blogs, etc. Something like keeping Safari as your reading browser. The display rendering is excellent for reading and writing(if you blog) things. The text has this crisp look and effect that makes reading a soothing activity on your browser.

Plus coming with less clutter and more space, there’s nothing more enjoyable than to read/write something within Safari.

You could use Firefox for your daily tasks, web chores and bookmarking stuffs, IE to the bin and keep Safari free from everything and just use it to enjoy pure web browsing and reading. That’s it, my opinion in why I think you should be downloading Safari if you haven’t yet done it or has never used it before.

Perhaps the mac fans could hand us some tricks for Safari and things they could add to make our browsing effort more enjoyable with Safari. Do let us know with a comment.
