Download real fast with ed2k

July 18th, 2008 by Hans

If you want something fast but can’t rely on torrents for your downloads, then you can have them through ed2K which is simply downloading them with eMule. Instead of searching for your downloads with eMule and falling on crappy stuffs, you can use ed2K links which are available on the web. It’s just like the torrent you download first to launch your download with your torrent client. The plus is that you’ve all the advantages like the torrent for e.g comments and feedbacks on the download so that you don’t waste your download time downloading porn.

So make sure eMule is installed and fully functional on your machine for this to work. Now to look for a particular download, you can google it or you can use the two sites I’ve provided according to your language preferences.

download real fast with emule-island

Sharevirus holds everything from movies to albums on ed2K links while eMule-island is its french brother. I’m sure there are loads of such sites. Emule-island has been reliable for getting dvd rips or even HD quality films!

As with everything downloaded from the net, make sure to scan your downloads with a good antivirus. Else, Cheers!

3 useful lists for bloggers

June 16th, 2008 by Hans

Bloggers write, generating content to make a successful blog. While one could consider a thousand things on blogging, I’ll just lay down 3 simple lists to run your blog through. Perhaps you might find that those 3 lists have gathered all the thousand things on blogging but the slight difference is that they prevent you from looking for a thousand other places instead of just one, three actually.

the blogging lists

From this perspective, blogging could be reduced to some very simple tasks. Starting from the writing process which is all it’s about, 100 Useful Web Tools for Writers covers everything from forming an idea to getting it onto a great blog post. Not forgetting all the in-between process from planning your writing to getting inspiration. Down the list, it might get a bit more complicated, perhaps for those who are really really into it. You can just stop running through the list wherever you think your blogging won’t carry you.

Then we get to the blogging tools all occasional bloggers might need from time to time. Simple things like checking one’s pagerank to something like checking whether all parts of one’s blog are standing correctly among the codes. 60 ridiculously useful tools for your blog or website should be sitting among your bookmarks. Believe me, that would save you lots of space among your bookmarks.

Wrapping it up, I’ll just put down THE checklist to check whether you’re getting the blogging thing the right way. Have you planned your blogging correctly..design your blog properly and all the thing that I think one should consider before getting into blogging. Maybe, this official successful website checklist should be placed in the first position on this list.

If you’re worrying about your blogging, perhaps you are looking for too many confusing places at a time. Getting through the above 3 should be just what you would really need to get your blog stand on its own feet. As for all the rest that get around blogging, I think you could be figuring this out on your own as you keep on blogging.

Bloggers love to know their rank, position in the blogosphere. How well they are doing for Technorati, on Pagerank, Google Blog Search, Alexa and other leading ranking sites. Urlmetrix instantly fetch those raw facts for your blog. Nothing new though, which I could put in here.

I’m yet to find something like this that may also allow you to have a widget to put on your site.

Site thumbnailing made easy

June 6th, 2008 by Hans

Whenever you get on those directory of blogs website, you are often asked a thumbnail of your blog. Some like Technorati can fetch this automatically for you while most don’t. SnapCasa, a simple site, provides you with real-time snapshot of your site in various image sizes, meaning that whenever you update your site, the thumbnail updates too. For this to work, you are to register for free with them and to add your blog’s domain to your account. Then you’ll be provided with the code in the image tag’s form i.e like that

<img src="http://SnapCasa.com/Get.aspx?code=[code]&size=[size]&url=[url]" />

to be placed on your site where a thumbnail will be needed. Needless to say, I don’t find much use to this on one’s blog.

But what kept my attention was the fact that without registering, you could instantly have thumbnails of any site for free. This could prove useful for reviews without the need to open any image editing software alongside. [Read more →]

Eavesdropping on your neighbours’ theme

May 21st, 2008 by Hans
Respond

Many of us, bloggers, surely must have had such encounter : getting on a blog which looks superb, and instantly we would try looking for the footer or somewhere else, through the blog for any hints of what theme that blog is using. Sometimes to use it ourselves afterwards, or just maybe out of curiousity. It might be discouraging though when we aren’t to find anything that might aid us in recognising the theme. In this article, I shall tell you how, a simple method of knowing what theme a particular blog is using when you’ve got no clue on the blog telling you what it might be.

The reasoning behind is simple. As any Wordpress blog pulls the stylesheet from the theme’s folder the blog is actually suiting, we’ll just have to find the name of that folder. Because most of the time, theme’s designer name the theme’s folder, the one containing all the theme’s files including the stylesheet, style.css, the actual name of the theme itself. It would be obvious, or 99.9% sure that the theme’s folder is the theme’s name.

To get this done, that is to find the name of that folder, here I’ll be doing it with Mozilla Firefox and that’s all we would need. Just get on any site. Let’s take for e.g, mine for instance, http://blogosquare.com. There are no instances on my blog where I’ve told what theme I’m using. So after loading blogosquare.com in Mozilla Firefox, just do a right-click somewhere and do View Source, then hit CTRL+F to find the first instance where style.css is called which will give you something in this line :

<link rel="stylesheet" href="http://blogosquare.com/wp-content/themes/Cutline2.0/style.css" type="text/css" media="screen" />

View source to spot theme's stylesheet

And that’s it. So look for the above line when doing View Source for any blog and you’ll see from where the style.css is being called, ultimately the name of the theme. Here, it’s Cutline2.0. Just Google it and you’ll hit the theme’s download site. Simply.

Now, if you’ve spotted a site using a theme but can’t figure it out on the blog, using the above method, you can. Or else, just drop the site’s owner a mail asking him the question if he’s willing to reveal you the theme he’s using on his site. Your feedbacks on this, whether you find it an interesting method or not, are all welcomed through the comments.
